Ratings Scale

Hi everyone.

Giving a final score to a movie or a game etc depends upon each reviewer. Some use a 5 Star scale, some use 1-10 ten points scale, some create their own scale and ratings values, some don't even leave a rating, and so on.

Even if two people use the same scale, the meaning of the value could differ. One could give a movie 5/10 and would consider it a bad movie, while someone else could give the same score and would consider it average. This obviously can create confusion among the readers.

So for giving you an idea of how my ratings work, following is the general gist of what my ratings usually mean.

I use a 1-10 hundred points scale. I prefer this because it just allows more variety for me.

0-3.9 = Hated it. Extremely lame movie. The lower, the worse.
4-5.9 = Didn't like it. Mediocre.
6-6.9 = Average. Time Pass. So So.
7-7.9 = Good movie. Liked it. The higher the better.
8-8.9 = Great movie.
9-9.9 = Excellent movie. Outstanding.
10 = Among my favorites. I very VERY rarely give this score.

Baywatch (2017) - Movie Review

Baywatch is a movie based on the old TV series of the same name. It's about a bunch of lifeguards on a beach who try to uncover drug smuggling in their area...yeah, that is the plot. It's dumb, it's stupid, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't that bad. Don't get me wrong, it's not good, but it wasn't horrible either.  The movie actually had some fun in it. The Rock, as always, was charismatic, funny and likable; and Zac Efron, surprisingly, was similar to that. He got ripped AF for the movie. Alexandra Daddario was fun as well, although any movie gets bonus points for just including her in my book. Priyanka Chopra was in it as well, and between her in this and Deepika Padukone in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Priyanka definitely was the better one.  There were legit funny scenes sprinkled throughout, but there were also a shit ton of scenes that tried too hard to be hilarious but fell flat instead. Baywatch also had a large dosage...

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) - Review

This movie is based on a true story about the attack on an american embassy and a secret CIA base in Benghazi, Libya, on the 9/11 anniversary in 2012. And how a few numbers of of Ex-Soldiers managed to repel the attack. Directed by Micheal Bay, I was surprised to see him holding back his Bay-ism and deliver a straight forward focused film. The story got a long build up at the start, setting up the location, the characters and the situation. And then chaos. What I liked most about this film was the fact that you felt just as lost as the soldiers and people in this movie. The confusion, the chaos, the uncertainty, it was delivered quite nicely, creating tension and thrill. There are a lot of characters in the movie, but ultimately it is focused on these soldiers, and while the movie could have done a better job developing them, what it did was good enough in a sense that it worked for the movie. I liked em. Acting varied, with some delivering pretty good performances. Also, again wi...

Trumbo (2015) - Review

Trumbo is yet another film based on a true story for this year's award season and is about Dalton Trumbo, a high profile hollywood screenwriter who, along with his companions, were registered communists and were treated differently because of that during the cold war era. I had no knowledge about the events depicted in the movie and I must say it did a great job of reeling me into this time in history and made me interested in it. Bryan Cranston totally killed it in his role. I loved his performance and can see why he is getting nods in different awards including the Oscars. His dialogue delivery is so great that you can listen to anything he say. This man needs to do more movies like this, where his talent is properly utilized. Alongside him we got many other good to great performances, especially an excellent negative role by Helen Mirren. I wished we got to see more of her. The movie had a bit of comedy in it, it wasn't a serious thing through and through, and that cert...
