The movie is about a dick god, who overthrows the Egyptian throne, takes it for himself and the would be king now has to go on a quest with a mortal to save Egypt and the mortal's loved one. Now, the movie had a good cast, I mean you have Gerard Butler as the villain, you have Jamie Lannister as the hero, you have Geoffery Rush in a secondary god role and you squander all of it away. The acting was mostly too over the top and cheesy, or just plain bad.
The movie had a large budget, but I'm just wondering where it all went. The editing was piss poor. There was no flow to the scenes. The cuts were often to sudden and sloppy. And oh boy did the majority of action scenes sucked. The choreography, the cinematography etc was hilariously bad in hand to hand combat scenes, and when the Gods transformed into their creature mode, it all felt like some cheap CGI cutscene from a not so good game. Not to mention the highly inconsistent CGI. When your movie is almost all CGI based and that too is highly inconsistent, you dun fucked it up. Sure there were some decent CGI in there, some locations shots and stuff, but most of it wasn't good. Green screen was blatantly obvious, and in some scenes, was so poor that people on YouTube can do it better.
The thing that I did kinda like in the movie was the fact that they used a lot of the mythos in throughout the movie. Even though it wasn't handled well, and it felt like they were just throwing stuff at the screen, it was still somewhat cool to see certain things. And it showed what this movie could have been. Had good potential. Also, there were some scenes, very few, that did felt like some effort was given into them and the editing etc felt fine in them. But they were just too few and far between.
The movie overall was an overblown CGI mess and feels like Jupiter Ascending of this year. It does has entertainment value in the form of laughing at the movie cause I certainly was at how bad some stuff was handled.
