Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) - Movie Review

"Everyone creates the thing they fear. Men of peace create engines of war. Avengers create invaders. Parents create children, that will supplant them." It's the kind of movie that I had great time with, even though I will agree to it having tons of flaws. Lets start with the story, it was mostly a mess. Throughout the movie, it felt like so much stuff have been crammed into a runtime obviously not enough for it. Pacing was a hit and a miss. There were some stuff that was really rushed while other sequences dragged on. Ultron creation and character development in particular was rushed like hell, something that would have benefited greatly from getting more screen time. Also, whole thing between Bruce and Natasha felt forced and out of place. Their scenes really dragged on. It would have been better if they went with Natasha and Steve instead as they had great chemistry in Winter Soldier. It just felt like the whole movie needed more time to be polished out, smooth out...

Suicide Squad (2016) - Movie Review

Suicide Squad is the third and latest entry into the DCEU, and is about a bunch of bad guys that are rounded up to fight for someone else. And just like this year's BvS, this movie received overwhelmingly negative reviews by the critics and was divided among the fans. I was super curious to watch it because unlike many, I actually enjoyed the DCEU till this point. Enjoyed both Man of Steel and BvS. But unfortunately, this one's a mess. The majority of the movie just feels choppy, editing was all over the place. Like they had a final product but because of disagreements, they took out a lot of scenes, shorten the runtime, and added others, making a giant choppy mess in the end. Scenes don't properly flow, including the flashbacks. Some scenes feel like they were added later (Probably the re-shoots) and they definitely didn't fit, particularly the elevator scene with Harley. The songs were all over the place as well. Some worked with their respective scenes, but...

X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - Movie Review

X-Men Apocalypse is another entry in the franchise, acting as a sequel to Days of the Future Past (DOTFP), with Bryan Singer once again returning as the director. Now, I always liked the X-Men movie franchise, and the ones directed by Bryan Singer are my favorites, especially DOTFP, which is my favourite of the franchise and one of my favourite super hero movie to date. So I was naturally very excited for Apocalypse.  The movie is about Apocalypse, an ancient mutant believed to be the very first of his kind, with unimaginable powers. He wakes up in current times, and decides to rule the world again. Only thing standing in his way are, ofcourse, the X-Men.  Now there was a lot of stuff that happened in the movie, a lot of characters to introduce, storylines to develop etc. And I think the movie managed to handle most of it quite well, instead of crumbling on its weight. I liked the build-up, and I liked the middle act. The flow felt fine to me, and everything was ...

Fant4stic (2015) - Movie Review

Oh boy, finally got to see this popular flop. And yeah, it is bad. The most important thing in a movie like this i.e team dynamic and chemistry was almost non existent. Whatever stuff they tried to develop felt forced and lame, only thing that I somewhat liked was Ben and Reed chemistry. The acting was somewhat serviceable but what they had to work with was bad, so in turn they ended up looking lame, even though there was some talent here, especially Myles Teller. I think he would have made a pretty good reed if he had gotten something better to work with. The story and its pacing were shit. Horribly edited. Some stuff happens, then some other stuff, then some other, all in a rushed and poorly executed way and you're just sitting there thinking, what are they going for here. The finale was also pretty lame. Hardly any fight and bam, its over. They jam in famous lines of these heroes there and it all just felt like a disaster. Atleast you would expect CGI to be good. But it was...

Ant-Man (2015) - Movie Review

ANT-MAN is yet another successful offering by Marvel and feels like their freshest one too. When the movie was announced, I was hoping to see Hank Pym as the Antman but with the way they went was fine too. Micheal Douglas steals the show as the old Hank Pym. I loved him. Paul Rudd, who plays Scott lang, the new Antman and Hank's protege, was pretty good too in his role. Evangeline lilly was good as hank pym's daughter and look pretty. This movie was REALLY hilarious, especially thanks to Michael Pena, who completely bombarded every scene he was in with humor. Marvel's funniest movie to date after Guardians of the galaxy. It also felt small in scale and scope compared to other superhero movies, fittingly just like the hero it is based on. Ultimately, it is a heist film with a superhero origin story in it, and good one too, which was both refreshing and entertaining. My favourite thing about this movie was that how it referenced to The Avengers and their stuff and ac...

Deadpool (2016) - Review

This is a superhero origin movie about Deadpool, who's more of an anti-hero. With all the great marketing and dedication by Ryan Reynolds and the team behind it, the movie had garnered immense hype and it was really pleasing to see the movie live up to it. Ryan Reynolds was born for this role. He personified Deadpool perfectly. He was simply amazing. Loved him. Aside from him, the secondary cast did a really good job as well. I loved Morena Baccarin as the love interest for Deadpool and very surprisingly, their romance subplot was handled very well, something that is very rare, especially considering I usually hate lovey dovey stuff. They had great chemistry and I would say they are probably the best superhero couple in my opinion after Spiderman and Gwen in The Amazing spiderman movies. T.J Miller as Deadpool's friend was great and had some really funny lines. Loved Colossus and the other teenage mutant, movie handled them very well. Hell, even the Indian cab driver guy w...

Captain America: Civil War (2016) - Review

Captain America: Civil War is yet another great entry to the Captain America movies and to the MCU. It follows after the events of Age of Ultron with the new avengers team kicking ass when the governments of the world decides to put them in check, under a specific division, following their orders, ultimately resulting in a divide among team members, hence CIVIL WAR. Now after Winter Soldier, I was really impressed by what the Russo brothers could do and naturally my hopes for this film were really high. Did it deliver completely? Almost but not fully. There are things that this movie did beautifully, perfectly. But there are also some things which were sort of meh. I liked how the plot was build up. The Civil War aspect was slowly seeping in alongside Steve's own story about his friend Bucky. At no point did the movie came to a halt for focusing on a specific thing as is the case with many other movies handling so many characters etc. Everything just flowed for the first half ...
