Mr. Nobody (2009) - Movie Review

"Every path is the right path. Everything could've been anything else. And it would have just as much meaning." Mr. Nobody is a movie which shows the multiple possibilities a young boy's life could turn out when he is faced with a choice at a critical moment in his life. The movie shows different timelines/possibilities where the life of the boy could head to depending on certain choices, all with their ups and downs. Some were more joyous than others, some more depressing, some more heartfelt etc. While it is impossible to show all the possibilities, the movie did it best to show as much as possible in the time frame it had without getting too crammed up or rushed. Jared Leto plays the lead and gives a great performance, not surprisingly. And the accompanying cast also gives an almost universal good performance. The movie does have this 'Inception confusion' effect where different stuff happening at different times could confuse the viewer and in additio...

The Martian (2015) - Movie Review

"In the face of overwhelming odds, I'm left with only one option, I'm gonna have to science the shit out of this." Another year, another great space sci-fi film. This year, Ridley Scott brings us a story of a man left on mars and having to survive there with whatever is left till help arrives. Matt Damon, who plays the astronaut stranded on Mars Mark Whatney, gave a great performance, his best one in years. Other than him, the movie had a HUGE cast with tons of A-Listers, all of whom did a great job in their limited screentime. Special nod to Donald Glover (Troy from Community), loved him and his character. With this kind of plot, I was surprised to see how optimistic, mostly lighthearted and entertaining this movie was. It could have easily been a depressing survival tale but Scott went the other way. Our Protagonist was an extremely likable and optimistic dude and it was just awesome seeing him science the shit out of things to survive by any means possible. Th...

11.22.63 (2016) - TV Series Review (Mini-Series)

11.22.63 is a 8 episode mini-series based on the novel by Stephen King of the same name, and it grabbed my attention because of its interesting premise. A guy, played by James Franco, goes back in time to 1960 in order to stop the assassination John F. Kennedy. He is involved in this by his friend who believes that stopping this assassination will make America great again. Time travel has always been a huge interest of fine. Couple that with the plot of this series and James Franco as the lead, no chance in hell I wouldn't watch it. The show starts off strong, admittedly with a rushed feeling though, and really reeled me in with good production values, acting and ofcourse, the plot. I was interested in seeing how he'll plan it out, how he'll handle staying in the past for so long etc and how this will have an effect on the present. The first half of the show was focused on this and hence I really enjoyed it. The past was definitely exaggerated, but to the shows effect,...

Steins;Gate (2011) - Review

WOW, now this was an amazing anime. Its been a long while since I was this interested in an anime and enjoyed it this much. The characters in this anime are just AWESOME. They are so well made and you just get to love them immediately. The main protagonist is a great one. I immediately liked him and he just kept on getting better and better. Loved his dialogues and character. I self proclaimed evil mad scientist who is a actually a good guy. You get to feel for and love every main character, and even some of the side characters. Their meetings, bafoonery etc etc, its just fun to watch. The writing and dialogue in this anime is another thing I really liked, its just awesome. The anime might seem slow paced to many because it is basically dialogue and interactions for the first few episodes but not for me. It was so enjoyable that it didn't even seemed a tad bit boring or slow paced. Story is also a great one. It is not everyday you get to see a take on time travelling in this w...
